What is a Navigator?
A Resource Navigator is a trained professional who helps connect individuals and families to the services and resources they need to improve their well-being. Navigators provide personalized guidance, assisting with everything from understanding available programs to completing applications for social services. They act as a trusted partner and advocate, ensuring that clients receive the support they need to overcome barriers and achieve greater stability in their lives.

Founder and CEO
Erin Ashlock, MPH
Erin Ashlock, MPH, is the founder of Grandma’s Hands New Mexico. Inspired by the life and legacy of her grandmother, Gladys W. Gaston, Erin combines her public health background with community advocacy to help individuals and families navigate essential services. She is committed to building culturally responsive support systems, strengthening community partnerships, and making resources easier to find and access.

Sylvia Romero
Community Navigator
Sylvia Romero brings decades of experience in healthcare, education, and community care. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse before serving for more than 20 years as a Health Assistant and Redirector with Albuquerque Public Schools. As a Community Navigator, Sylvia draws on her compassion, practical knowledge, and commitment to service to help individuals and families access trusted resources and support.

Phillip Romero
Community Navigator
Phillip Romero brings extensive experience in education, tutoring, and student support. A graduate and educator at Albuquerque Academy summer programming, he currently teaches at APS International School and works with students through individual tutoring. As a Community Navigator, Phillip uses his patience, teaching experience, and knowledge of the local community to help individuals and families connect with valuable resources and opportunities.
